Exciting news has taken centre stage!

Cassandra Mark-Thiesen has been appointed co-chair of the Africa Network of the European Social Science History Conference (ESSHC), alongside Stefano Belluci from Leiden University.

In their roles as co-chairs, Cassandra and Stefano facilitate collaboration among Africanists and other ESSHC networks, providing a platform for showcasing research within the rich tapestry of a multifocal, interdisciplinary academic landscape.

Scheduled next on the agenda is the 15th European Social Science History Conference in 2025 (26 - 29 March 2025, Leiden, The Netherlands) organized by the International Institute of Social History (IISH) in collaboration with Leiden University, which promises to be a vibrant gathering of scholars delving into historical phenomena through the lens of interdisciplinary exploration.

The Africa Network at ESSHC warmly welcomes all Africanists eager to exchange ideas and research on African case studies and African studies in dialogue with other regions on particular social science and historical issues.

The Call for Papers for the ESSHC 2025 is currently open, and submissions will be accepted until April 15, 2024! Visit the official website for comprehensive submission details and guidelines.
